my motto on organization: things don't necessarily have to be spotless or in their correct place to be organized. a menage of mail on the counter, a crumpled martha stewart magazine here, a stack of plates and cups waiting to be put away there, a vase of flowers perched atop my husband's mountain of textbooks...they aren't necessarily in their respective places, but to me, it means home.

today I found out that I am most comfortable in a home that is moderately organized.

 "You are organized but not obsessive. You may have moments when you feel overwhelmed by the number of fingerprints on the light switches, but those moments pass quickly. The trick for you is to reserve one day a week for cleaning and de—cluttering — unless there is a Law & Order or Design Star marathon on, of course.

While you don't enjoy clutter, you need to be aware that it can sneak up on you. The best way to combat the encroachment of disorder is to employ a casual system, focusing on the clutter hot spots: closets, pantries and desk drawers. You like to live in a space where you can put your feet up and relax, but where you can also be confident that the next time you open your closet doors, objects won't fall on your head."
